Cup Concentration: A Textures Matching Game for Toddlers
We had Little Biscuit’s final visit from our Parents as Teachers rep this week and she had a great idea for a game we had to try. We collected some random odds and ends from around the house that were 2 of a kind – two craft pompoms, 2 mini cars, 2 little wood men, 2 marbles, 2 hair ties, 2 Cars dominoes, 2 bendy straw ends, 2 foam circles, and 2 q-tips (the objects can be anything as long as they match, have different textures, are safe for toddler hands and are small enough to fit in a cup). Before we played the game, I let Little Biscuit hold, touch and handle the gizmos for a few minutes so he’d know the differences and how they felt.
Then, we dumped them all into an 8-oz cup…
I put the cup inside one of his daddy’s (clean!) tube socks so he couldn’t see inside. We shook it up and, without looking, I pulled out one of the objects (a little orange wooden man). So it was his turn …I let him put his hand down inside the sock…his challenge was to find the other orange man without peeking. He could only feel around for it…
Yay!! He did it 
He was quite proud of himself 
His first cup concentration match of the day…
Mommy’s turn…can she find the hair tie Little Biscuit pulled out? If she does, she wins a BIG kiss, just like he did!! (Yippee, I won a big one!!! Here it comes…)
Another turn for Little Biscuit…can he find the other foamie circle?

Lactose Intolerance In Toddlers
Lactose intolerance is a condition in which the body is not able to easily digest foods that contain lactose, or the natural sugar that is found in dairy products. Lactose intolerance is not the same as milk allergy. Milk allergy is due to a problem with your body’s defense system, called the immune system. Once lactose is in the body, it needs to be broken down into two simple sugars, glucose and galactose, to be absorbed into the blood stream.
There is an enzyme called lactase which is responsible for breaking down the lactose. Many people have a shortage of the enzyme lactase, which is normally made by cells lining the small intestine. Without this enzyme they can’t break down milk sugar into simpler forms that can be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Lactose intolerance is not very common in toddlers under two years of age, unless the toddler has a lactase deficiency because of an injury to the small intestine. A rare cause of lactose intolerance is called congenital lactase deficiency. Toddlers with this condition do not produce any lactase.
Your toddler may need to take a calcium supplement if he/she doesn’t get enough of it from the diet, since milk and foods made with milk are the most common source of calcium for most people. Vitamin D is necessary for the body to absorb calcium, therefore, your toddler’s diet should provide an adequate supply of vitamin D.
There are many of nondairy foods that are rich in calcium. These include :

Green vegetables such as broccoli and kale.

Fish such as salmon and sardines.

Yogurt
Sources of vitamin D include eggs and liver. Sunlight is also a good source of vitamin D.

I’ve seen several films about researches that show a beneficial influence of music on flowers. But we never spoke about this with my daighter.
For me it’s only one more proof of children’s inborn intuition they use in their first years of life. That’s the proof that children don’t have enough experience and their logic isn’t developed well. Instead they use the native feeling of intuition that help to understand the objects around. That’s amazing!
We don’t use intuition because we think that logic can bring the truth.
And that’s why we fail. We fail in many things in our life only because we don’t listen to our hearts any more. We don’t know what we want. We forgot our dreams. We do what we should do because we are told that is the way the things should be. We are so sure about this that even don’t try to think about it.
Our children are born with the wisdom to the life the way it is and don’t listen to the other people who failed to keep this wisdom in the heart.
Let’s help our children to keep this wisdom and their hearts. It will help them to have the better life than we have. I didn’t tell that we can’t change our life. On the contrary. We should change it for better in order to show our children the way. We should be the change we want to see.
